What is Payz?

Payz is a digital wallet, the one that bookmaker cashiers listed as ecoPayz until 2023. You load it from a card, a bank transfer or an ecoVoucher and pay the bookmaker from the wallet with your Payz username and password, so the bookmaker never sees your card or bank details. Winnings come back into the wallet, and from there you send them to your bank.

It opened in 2000 as EcoCard, became ecoPayz and took the Payz name in 2023, keeping the same accounts and logins. The brand belongs to PSI-Pay Ltd of Horsham, West Sussex, authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority as an electronic money institution (reference 900011): customer money is kept apart from the company’s own funds and an independent auditor checks it every year. The wallet handles more than 50 currencies.

What matters before you deposit is the system of account levels: Classic, Silver, Gold, Platinum and VIP. The level sets the fees, the limits and which operations you may do. Classic, the level you get at sign-up, has a lifetime limit of €2,500 and no bank withdrawals; Silver comes with identity verification, the three levels above with the volume you move to merchants.

How to open a Payz account

  1. Sign up on payz.com or in the app. Registration is free and the account starts at Classic level. Check first that your country is in the list on the fee page: the United States, Canada, Japan, India and Turkey are not.
  2. Verify your identity to reach Silver. Upload a passport, identity card or photo driving licence, a proof of address dated within three months and a selfie; Payz says it checks them within two business days. Do it before your first withdrawal: a Classic account cannot send money to a bank or, by the limits table, receive it from a merchant.
  3. Choose the currency of your bookmakers. Classic holds one currency, Silver and above up to ten of more than 50. Every transaction in another currency costs 2.99% at Classic and Silver, 1.49% at Gold and Platinum, 1.25% at VIP.
  4. Load the wallet. A card costs 1.69% to 6% plus €0.25 depending on the country, a bank transfer between nothing and 10%, a transfer to your Payz virtual IBAN €0.50 (Silver and above), an ecoVoucher 2.90%. Card loads stop at €200 a day at Classic and €3,000 a day at Silver.
  5. Pay the bookmaker. Choose Payz, or ecoPayz where the cashier still uses the old name, enter the amount, then your Payz username and password. Payz charges nothing for transfers to a merchant and the money is on your betting account at once.

What it costs

Between the wallet and the bookmaker nothing is charged: Payz lists transfers to and from a merchant as free at every level, and bookmakers normally add no fee. What you pay depends on how you load the wallet, how you take money out and on your level.

Fees read on 19 October 2026 on the account levels and fees page of payz.com, in euros. Loading fees are ranges because the figure depends on the options in your country; for bank withdrawals, Payz’s fee information document of December 2022 puts the lower figure on SEPA transfers and the higher on the others. Select your country on the fee page before you open the account.

Two ways to pay less

Verify the account at once and keep it in the currency of your bookmakers. Silver is free and unlocks withdrawals; Gold cuts conversion to 1.49% but needs €25,000 moved to merchants first. A Silver bettor who loads €1,000 by card at the lowest rate (1.69% plus €0.25) and plays in another currency pays €17.15 to load and €29.90 to convert before placing a bet.

Deposit and withdrawal times

Deposits to the bookmaker are instant: Payz calls its merchant payments instant and the money shows on the betting account as soon as you confirm. Into the wallet, a card load can be credited immediately, while Payz gives one to three business days for a local bank transfer and up to four for an international one.

Withdrawals from the bookmaker wait for the operator’s approval, from minutes to a few days depending on the operator and on whether your betting account is verified; Payz publishes no time for the transfer from the merchant to the wallet, and a Classic account cannot receive it. From the wallet to your bank, Payz quotes three business days to process the request plus up to five for the money to arrive, and warns that it can take longer outside the EEA.

Where you can use it

Payz is a UK wallet, and the fee page lets you pick your country among 166 countries and territories; fees and deposit options change with the choice, and the terms require you to be tax resident in a country Payz serves. Four rules matter for bettors.

The bookmaker’s side counts too: each operator decides where it offers Payz, so the cashier you see depends on where you registered as well.

Payz and welcome bonuses

Check the bonus terms first

Many bookmakers exclude e-wallet deposits from the welcome offer, and exclusion lists written years ago still say ecoPayz rather than Payz: it is the same wallet and the exclusion applies. If Payz or ecoPayz is among the excluded methods, make the first deposit by card or bank transfer and switch to Payz from the second one.

Questions and answers

Is Payz free to use with bookmakers?

Transfers to and from a merchant are free at every level, and most bookmakers add nothing. You pay to load the wallet (1.69% to 6% plus €0.25 by card, up to 10% by bank transfer depending on the country, 2.90% by ecoVoucher), to withdraw to your bank (€5.90 to €10 from Silver to Platinum, €2.90 to €7 at VIP) and to convert currency (2.99% at Classic and Silver, 1.49% at Gold and Platinum, 1.25% at VIP).

Why can’t I withdraw my winnings from a Classic account?

Because the Classic level, the one every account starts at, has no bank withdrawal and no allowance for transfers from merchants in the Payz limits table. Verify your identity with an ID, a proof of address and a selfie: the account becomes Silver, usually within two business days, and withdrawals open in both directions.

How long does a Payz withdrawal from a bookmaker take?

As long as the bookmaker takes to approve it, from a few minutes to a few days. Payz does not publish a time for the transfer from the merchant to the wallet. From the wallet to your bank, Payz quotes three business days to process the request plus up to five for the money to arrive.

Is Payz the same as ecoPayz?

Yes. ecoPayz changed its name to Payz in 2023; the accounts, the login details and the operator, PSI-Pay Ltd, did not change. Bookmaker cashiers and bonus terms that still say ecoPayz mean this wallet.

Is Payz safe?

PSI-Pay Ltd, the company behind Payz, is authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority as an electronic money institution (reference 900011). Customer money is safeguarded apart from the company’s own funds, with a yearly check by an independent auditor, and the bookmaker never sees your card or bank details.
