The 14 e-wallets

How e-wallets work at a bookmaker

You open the wallet with an e-mail address, verify your identity and load it from a card, a bank transfer or a voucher. In the cashier you choose the wallet, type the e-mail and confirm the payment on the wallet’s page; the bookmaker never sees your card or bank details. Withdrawals come back the same way and are the fastest in the business: once the bookmaker approves them, the money is in the wallet at once.

The price of that speed is in the wallet, not at the bookmaker. Loading by card costs 1.25% at Skrill and 2.5% at Neteller, withdrawing to a bank account 1.75% and $10 respectively, and every change of currency 3.99% to 4.49%. Load by bank transfer, keep the wallet in the currency of your bookmakers and the wallet costs almost nothing.

Two of the wallets on this page are not wallets in the strict sense. Apple Pay and Google Pay pass a card to the cashier and cannot receive a payout; Revolut Pay is the checkout button of a bank account. The table says which methods take withdrawals.

Questions and answers

Which e-wallet do most bookmakers accept?

Neteller (47 of 65 on this site) and Skrill (45), the two Paysafe wallets, then Apple Pay (20), Payz (20) and Google Pay (19).

Are e-wallet deposits excluded from welcome bonuses?

Often, especially Skrill and Neteller at bookmakers licensed in the United Kingdom. The bonus terms list the methods that qualify; if the wallet is excluded, make the first deposit by card and use the wallet from the second one.

Can I fund an e-wallet with a credit card to bet?

Not in the United Kingdom or Australia, where credit cards are banned for gambling and the ban covers money loaded into a wallet. Elsewhere the card issuer may bill the load as a cash advance; a debit card or a bank transfer avoids both problems.
